HMS Barham, Royal Navy, Died: 25th November 1941, aged 18.

Son of Matthew and Emma Tarn, of Thornley, Co Durham. Chatham Memorial, Kent. The 32,000-ton battleship HMS Barham exploded and sank with a very heavy loss of life, after being torpedoed in the Mediterranean by U-331. Stoker John Howe of Wheatley Hill was also killed in this action.
